Christian Appalachian Project

The Christian Appalachian Project is building hope, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love through service in Appalachia.

For more than 50 years, Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) has directly impacted the lives of children and their families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities in Eastern Kentucky.

YOU are compassionately impacting the lives of people in need in Appalachia!

The substandard housing rate in Eastern Kentucky is 46%. Our Housing Program provides home repair and reconstruction services to participants on a year-round basis, providing safe, warm, and dry housing for families and individuals who otherwise could not afford adequate living conditions.

The food insecurity rate in CAP’s service area is 17.9%. We are committed to ensuring that children and their families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities in the region do not go without food, clothing, and other essential items. Grateful Bread Food Pantry, Grateful Threadz Thrift Store, and Operation Sharing are making a positive and lasting difference in the lives of people in need in Appalachia by helping them meet their most basic needs.

In a region with relatively few high-quality child development centers, our Child and Family Development Centers create a place for local children that is safe and educational. Both of CAP’s centers are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and are among the highest rated centers in Kentucky’s early childhood rating system, “STARS for KidsNow.” Children who learn to feel positively about themselves and gain a sense of responsibility for their families and their peers will be more likely to realize their full potential as teenagers and adults.
